G90 vs F90 vs F10
Fun day out and still in love with my F90, which I've daily driven for nearly 4 years now.

Thanks for sharing.
It is obvious that the F90 was a huge improvement in performance over the F10. It is also obvious that the delta in performance between the F90 and the G90 is non-existant, and therein lies the quandry. After 6 M5’s dating back to my first M5 which was an E39, I will not be migrating to the G90, at least not this iteration. I will happily stay in my current 22’ M5C as there is nothing compelling me to make the move. For those that will undoubtedly question my comments … yes, I can afford a G90 and yes, I have extensively driven it as my brother owns one. And yes, this is just my opinion and not an indictment on this car. I’m sure many value the PHEV and new styling etc and I respect that. A G90 with performance that is measurably better than it’s predecessor could tilt my mind in another direction. Unfortunately, this is not that car.

No, the M5 CS seats make it not feasible for a car I would drive daily and take clients out in.

7 series is bigger so it's all still in line, you're just stuck in the past and whining about it thinking anyone cares

The BMW G90 M5 is slightly longer than the 2022 BMW 7 Series, but the 7 Series is wider. BMW G90 M5 dimensions Length: 200.63 in (509.6 cm), Width: 77.56 in (197.0 cm), Width with mirrors: 84.88 in (215.6 cm), and Height: 59.45 in (151.0 cm). 2022 BMW 7 Series dimensions Length: 207.4 in, Width: 74.9 in, and Height: 58.2 in Weight: The 2025 BMW M5 G90 (G90 M5) weighs more than some BMW 7 Series models. The G90 M5 weighs around 5,400 pounds, again, which is why I said they need to rebadge it and call it an M7. |

But the 7 series is even bigger, not to mention an entirely different car. It didn’t go over my head, your assertion just makes no sense.

What a useless argument. We don't care about imaginary model names. It's the M5 and that's it.

Looking at past generations is pointless for naming today’s cars. Today’s M3 is larger than the M5 used to be. Should we call the M3 the M5? |

Arguing over performance at this level has become academic. The last few generations of M5 have become so fast that the full potential is basically unusable outside of a quick freeway onramp blast. On my local canyon roads it was not uncommon to see 125-140 mph on the short straights in my F90. Most corners were being exited at 60-80 mph in even relatively tight sections. Not sure why anyone needs to go faster than that on public roads. Taking a tenth or two off 60-90, etc makes zero difference in the real world at these speeds.
There are plenty of reasons not to buy a G90 including weight, de-contented interior, etc but IMO performance is not one of them. |
