Sorry I cannot stand these new big screens they’re putting in all the cars. Especially the lack of buttons is criminal.

I actually don’t mind the design/aesthetics of the G90, I just think the overall mechanical ethos is messed up and it isn’t a true upgrade over the previous generation. It’s very much form over function IMO.

It will grow on people, the G8x is testament to this. No matter the weight and look, the tech, drivetrain, size etc. If it's fast enough, it will be accepted, and by all measures it is fast enough.

G8x people hated, people still do, but I think it is out selling the f8x and they are still being produced (yes buying is not the only measurement of acceptance) but just like every new ///M, there is hate and acceptance afterwards and a longing for the previous one when the next one lands.

The new design wouldn’t be bad at all, if it were done on 3/4 scale and weighed 1000lbs++ less. It’s just too big and bloated for me to get into

The actual design, while generic, seems thoughtfully made

Yea I totally agree. It doesn’t look bad. It’s the weight and specifically power to weight that I don’t get.

I think a lot of times when new concepts/models come out most will say they like the previous models better. I think thats just bc thats what they are comfortable seeing so they naturally gravitate towards that, however in time they come to like the newer set up more.

Before you flame me, yes there are some who say they like the older models bc well they just like the older model but at the same time there is a larger group (on and off the forum) who change their outlook once they see it, experience it, or get use to it.

The good news for those who like the older models over the newer ones is that once the newer ones come out you can get the older ones for cheaper So you can look it at that way as well

I personally am digging this one bc I am also a big fan of the new i5

I was not a fan for the g80 when it came out, the f80 was beautiful, so I was like meh. It did grow on me though, but mostly because what it's capable of is really amazing. With the new m5 it feels the opposite, the looks don't bother me, but the engineering does. I was very excited to have a chance at a m5 wagon, but as the weight numbers came out, I realized this just wasn't going to be the fun car I wanted. Yes it will be straight line fast. I had a stage 1 sq7 making 700 hp, it was straight line fast and handled well, but it still felt heavy and reduced some of the fun. So I ended up going with the g80 M3 which is more closely sized to older m5s, and feels more lively.

Though for those who do like it enjoy!

Being a die-hard 3 series fanboy, the F90 really is the best looking BMW in recent years (I love the styling of the entire F chassis line-up). Is it just me, or does the rear on the new ///M5 resemble a Mercedes a bit?

I agree about all except it's not flawless exterior, many flaws. My other comment in a different earlier post explained in greater detail but few of what i said was the taillights look like a mercedes, no shifter, and a giant ipad instead of a dash.

No, even though I got used to the G82/G83 and bought one, I'm still having issues with it and the size and weight (Especially after seeing in in my neighbor's driveway recently). I loved my F90 (until it got hit in the front). Only time will tell. 🙈

I like the G90 design - the more angular, muscular lines look great. Not a fan of the rear lights, the increase in overall dimensions, and weight. ... I think it will barely fit in my garage.

G90 looks much better, though the rear end is meh.

Even though it's heavy, initial reviews seem positive. Interested to see the real numbers on these...

It looks decent I didn’t like the F90 when it first came out because it looked to similar and used the same engine as the F10 M5. Still can’t believe it’s slower than the previous generation F90 that should not have happened! This G90 should be as fast/quick as a Tesla Model S! Come on BMW M, the S63 has been around since 2009 with just a simple flash tune it eats super cars. All this time with basically the same base engine this new Twin Turbo V8 plus Hybrid should have been insanely fast like the Porsche 918 hybrid that was V8 hybrid and super fast! Every new generation M5 has been faster than the previous generation heck every M car predecessor has been faster/quicker than it’s previous generation.

There are fundamental differences with the high beltline of G90 vs prevous M5 designs. The car does not look like a sedan anymore. It is stubby and tall. This is the side-effect of hybrid clar platform and hybrid drivetrain. Even sitting in traffic behind new 530 the height of the trunk line is very high. It looks like prevous 6 GT vs sleek sedan.

You’re ignoring the M2, M3, and M4. You can’t get the M8 with a manual transmission. In my experience the G80 6MT is one of the best M cars ever made. And we’ve had a bunch of them. It’s the lighter, more sophisticated and faster e39 M5.

The new 5 is ugly, it has disproportional design, disjointed and bulky with Camry like rear end. It will never never grow on me, ugly design does not grow on, it is good from the first sight or stays ugly forever like all Bangle cars.

No matter how much performance they put in that body I will never buy it.

I remember in the lead-up to the g8x release, BMW put out a video of one of their engineers driving it around, and the guy mentioned how agile the car was. Knowing the weight figure, you can imagine the response here to that comment… yet here we are…

C&D had great things to say on they first drive. I think this will handle better than most are expecting. Sounds like it has a shitload of grip and a great front-end like the g8x.

LOL that’s pretty funny what does your neighbor think about the car?
