The height.
With lower ground clearance, the center of gravity goes lower , causing better grip and better traction.

M5 needs time to find itself as it is not a huge improvement out of the door over the F90 or any of the competitors.

Impressive. 6.4 is equal to conservative stage 1 tunes on the F90 so already ahead of the game. Stage 2 F90 can do 5.3 with DME @ 760bhp 740tq up to 5.8 ish for more conservative 700hp S2 tunes. Once the 100-200 us quicker than my F90 I think ill make the jump, hopefully i wont have to send my ECU away.

Agreed. Going to be hard pressed to find a stock F90 on the road, most are stage 1 which will be faster than the G90. Once we know the tuning potential which should be at least equal to the F90 and the F90s start to feel dated i can see a lot of F90 guys like myself making the jump. I played this game too many times now, at first, I deny and tell myself to stay with old faithful, then I get bored, then I start looking, then I make the inevitable purchase. A tale as old as time.

Same boat as you. i'm really not sure about this being a good move for me but ... at least it's waaaaaay cheaper than my G81, adding to that the road tax advantage of the G90... I'm just hopping it's still sporty enough not to get bored.

Probably going to be a boat loads of them in Ireland soonish since the pricing is so attractive here.

The sub-floor battery is far heavier than the roof. Despite the height, which is only marginally higher than F90, the centre of gravity is likely to be low on this.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Doc was right DocWeatherington and that it’s cold tyres.

(Actually, as an aside, has anyone wondered why Carwow’s Matt Watson hasn’t any content out on the driving of this? Peculiar)

I think it’s unfair to compare the G90’s first iteration to either the F90’s super-limited & super-premium version in the CS. Ditto privately-tuned F90s. I mean, you can make a Renault Clio go superfast if you throw enough money at it. It doesn’t make it a better all-rounder than a G90.

Reports suggest the G90 is actually 800+ Hp… so with tunes it’ll easily surpass 1000.

Absolutely. Although, how long before the Gov cop-on to the loophole and shut it?

Are you trading your G81? I’d say sales of G8x are going to stop entirely here, who’d want to pay €2500 in annual road tax for a slower car?

I don’t think you’ve anything to worry about on the boredom front!

Exactly i'm jumping on the tax loop hole before it gets addressed and the opportunity to park a twin turbo V8 with quad exhaust next to the EV in the EV charging bay

I don't see the huge G90 being anywhere as fast on the small irish roads we have, even the G8x feels tight on these road already. It's probably a better daily overall, but it's probably not as good on the track or mountain passes i usually go to, but i'll see for myself soon enough, i'm still hoping for reasonable handling from an M car.

V8s in the EV spots!

I’m delighted that my fellow Paddy G90 buyers are planning to keep a low profile so the Green Party fail to notice!

Ah, my last one was F10 M5 and I never had any drama fitting down roads. Granted G90 is a wee bir bigger but I think the days of rubbish Irish roads are behind us.

No, not a track car for sure but fast enough to shred your licence in short order!!

Your statement stands right until the batteries run out of juice. I wish we can see some drag races with the EV power dead. Until then, the vehicles are not comparable.

This is a good point but I doubt the battery will run out of juice on a daily commute or typical outing. Plus It seems like it’s about a 20 kwh battery so it can probably charge in about 2 hours on a home level 2 charger from 0% if it ever gets that low.

I suppose track days and road trips will be an issue but those are few and far between for most of us.

Every time I see videos like this... I think boy, how much better this thing would have been had it not been an extra 1k lbs... just a completely unnecessary decision.

Why did they not make this a normal hybrid as opposed to a stupid plug in? the whole regulation talk is nonsense... this cars volume is tiny compared to the rest of the line where they can make things as efficient as possible...

in the roll race vs the F90...the improvements are truly marginal and again, go back to how much better it would have been had it not packed on so much weight.

That’s what the AUTOID guys talked about and ultimately felt it was just too large for small B roads and the like. Will be interesting to see how this plays out tho for you guys over there
