As a long time owner of AMGs, Mercedes will most certainly NOT badge non-AMG cars. This is something that is done aftermarket or perhaps by a certain dealer. The point is, I also have seen many Bimmers trying to look like (and even badged) as M´s. I even saw this one guy that change the front fenders of this BMW 530 for those of an M5 and badged it, M5!! Wow, what people will do for the coveted M or AMG badge. Anyway, don´t think this phenomenon is particular to Mercedes owners.

Who cares? MB owners do it just as BMW, Honda, Nissan, and other brand owners do. If they want an AMG badge then fantastic. Maybe they're a big fan of AMG's and couldn't afford one, or they have a couple AMG parts installed, or whatev. You can go have this same conversation all day long on Bimmforums.com about non-M E36 owners badging M on their car.

Totally true!!!! You working for a Mercedes dealer (or even Corporate) by no means makes you an authority on the subject matter. I've seen LOTS of ignorant people that work for dealerships and claim things that are simply wrong or totally inaccurate (not saying your one of those since I don't know you, but you might want to recheck your statement as it may be wrong). You may work for one of those dealers that does badge non-AMG's!!!! Affalterbach does not do that!!!!! Yes, they put AMG exhaust tips, wheels, body kits, etc... but NEVER put the rear AMG badge with, say the CLK 63 badge on the rear-left side with the AMG logo on the right. To each his own and if you do it’s your problem. But for you to try and say that this is something officially done by Mercedes is incorrect.

it's not an amg appearance package...it's just sport package..and like i said, we've had a hella lot of benz's and they've all been sport package, and not once was the badge an option or even thought of...

Still gay.
Reminds me of a certain family member of mine who said "I don't care what Mercedes it is, as long as it has an AMG badge I'll take it". She would easily fall for a C300 with an AMG badge. |

Hahaha!! Wonderful! I've also noticed that the AMG badge is but on the wrong side. Anyway, still think this happens with all brands that have a premium division. Have seen BMW's badged M, etc...

For example, I saw a guy the other day in a debadged black S550 (dual exhaust, custom wheels and an AMG Appearance Package); he had just the AMG badge on the rear...looked pathetic, imho. I mean anyone who really notices that stuff (like me ) are going to know the difference, and when there's a dual exhaust and no AMG quad exhaust, it's quite obvious it's not a real AMG 63 or 55...exactly who do the think they're fooling?

I just looked at this guy...gave him a seriously pathetic "what's wrong with you?" look. He was driving an e46 323i/325i (idc it doesn't matter), and he had an //M badge and I just shook my head at him as I drove by. Glad he saw me too.
