The knock on the 5.0 originally was that it wasn't going to be boost friendly (11.0:1), and from what I gather, there are a couple big name tuners who are either having a lot of trouble fitting an SC on there, or have given up completely. There have been reports of 28HP gains from tune alone though.... I guess it's just all about how much power you really "need" to enjoy the car... Still, an optioned RTR is $7k less than an optioned GT500. |

^ I would not give 8K for that stuff. It looks like, maybe, 3-4 worth at best.
The exterior pieces need to be molded on and painted or something. They look like they might blow off like that. One article I read said an ECU change is included with the RTR. ??? My money would go to good wheels/tires, ECU, exhaust and tweaky deak the suspension. I could not get that chin spoiler out of the drive. Well, I could leave but the spoiler would stay behind. |

The package comes with the FRP tune, intake, exhaust, wheels and tires, and suspension.
Plus, you've got the factory standing behind the car. I like it, but I'm waiting to hear if there's an alternative to the cow-catcher chin spoiler. I could be ok with it I guess, but if I had a choice, I'd rather go without it along with the stripes. I've done some reading up on the tires and general concensus is they are really good tires which won't wear out quickly, and I do like the wheels they include in this package. EDIT: Also, remember all this is installed and remains under warranty for $7895. It would benefit me to wait a bit to select a more lucrative tuning option anyway, and it would probably also behoove me to get used to the car before slapping too much power under the hood. Did not know that.
Not a fan of those wheels at all. In fact I can't stand them. The rest, as said, would be a good thing to get from the dealer. "I givz u 2,500 and u keep dem wheelz, floor matz and flappy pieces" |

Honestly, there's probably a few hundred in RTR badging alone, which I could do without as well, but I figure it's their package, and they deserve to have their name out there. I wonder how much money they recoup from retaining the Brembo package wheels.... |

Shelby's new GT350 is getting 500/500 out of the 5.0 with an SC. Very boost friendly. Rumor is Ford had to put the stops on the GT350 tuning as it was out producing the GT500's 5.4L by a wide margin. The new 5.0 is going to be a monster. The 6.2L in the Raptor will be a crazy beast.

Xenon is available on the pre-package car (see the pics of the white one). The RTR package does not have any bearing on that.
And they are taking orders for the 2011 5.0 already. I am, however, a bit concerned that I may have to get a new bottom end if any sort of decent blower is to be fitted.... Bummer. |

http://www.mustang50magazine.com/tec...ine/index.html As far as boosting the car, IMO, I would rather take a '10 with the cast iron block, which are going to be on sale much cheaper now that the '11's are out. I honestly think that the '10 GT's can respond much better/more reliably to high boost than the new 5.0. Time will tell. As far as bolt ons for the 5.0, some of the mustang guys are already reporting over 400WHP with just a tune. Add exhaust and intake and maybe you'll see 420WHP from those minor mods. Honestly I would take a GT for $32k, upgrade the suspension, do a few minor cosmetic upgrades, and get intake/exhaust/tune and have a great all around ride for under $40k Or, get a '10 GT for probably $20k or less in a year, mod the living shit out of it, and have a 700WHP BEAST.. It's all about what you want.. |

I have owned one Ford, P/U, out of all my keys and have actually entertained this idea. It's not like your spending 80 or have something that is costly to repair. Waiting to see if any warrantied engine/exhaust pieces appear other than this RTR stuff. Unless they would let you pick what you wanted. I never thought I would be saying I may go look at a Mustang. I do know the owner of a huge Texas Ford chain too... If I could get him to toss one out for invoice while no one is looking. |

This is the only pic I can find of that (from their website).... I just wish they could have made the front end look more like the Carbon and less like a 19th century locomotive.

The only problem with the Mustang is that the fun part would be sinking money into it with aftermarket goodies, and that is a huge waste of money, even if the dollar amounts are not large. I don't know if I could do it...I have spoiled myself with cars. |
