: that's such a bummer. BMW should seriously rethink this. Customers deserve to have new electronic feature updates. Very poor planning on their part.

Please read the original article - this upgrade entails both a hardware and software update.

How many times are people going to ask if its a software update. It clearly states its a hardware update. Stop asking already its rather quite irritating!

If you can visualize retrofitting the current F30 CIC into an E90 dash then you will quicly realize that they are different in mounting points and controls. Therefore the new CIC will not fit in the E90 either...

Garage List
I wonder if they will release a software update for current models, especially the e9X platform.

Very unlikely. I have been waiting for years now for the software update to make my I6 engine a 4.0L V8 and so far no luck.

Thanks for such a quick reply.

I'd also like to apologise "publicly" to you for the unfounded comments I made a week or two ago about a post of mine on this forum being censored. I was just plain wrong, having lost track of the post due to my own stupidity.

Not for F30's in Canada. No upgraded navigation in CY2012.

OT - MFID Rollout

This is great info - is there a similar rollout schedule for the new Multifunction Information Display? Tried to do a search, but so far haven 't found anything specific...

This is a US roll-our schedule, correct?

Thanks

I've been trying to pin-down the UK rollout schedule for the F30 and this new iDrive system. Both my dealer and BMW UK Customer Services tell me that there have been no BMW Product Bulletins confirming a release date for the new system into the F30.

This thread states the new system will go into F30s from November production, but I've been unable to corroborate this info for the UK. My current build date is week 41 (beginning of October), so if I can confirm the rollout date for the is definitely from November production then I'd happily delay my order by a few weeks. On the other hand, if there's no rollout date currently published, and no sight of one, then I'd rather just go ahead and get my car ASAP.

Sigh.

Sorry, but UK seems to be getting the new Navigation Professional iDrive later and not in accordance with this general rollout schedule.

The 2013 US M5 and 5 series have it now, but the UK 2013 5 series does not. It's a matter of production capacity - BMW doesn't have capacity to roll it out for all models at the same time, so some markets get it first and others get it later.

The UK is one of BMW's largest markets and they have shafted us royally. I will not buy another car from this bunch of cynics. They still haven't publicly stated when the UK F10s will have the new system on the UK web site. I had a series of emails back and forward with BMW UK, including reference to the misleading information on this forum, before they finally admitted what they were up to.

BTW, for any potential F10 buyers in the UK, the new system will be fitted in cars built from September.
