XPEL is an inferior product to almost all of the other premium brands. There is tons of technical data to back this up. You are paying for marketing. That said, you are bang on with the going to the best installer comment for sure.

You don't know what you're talking about. Sometimes it's ok to not talk.

New question: I got a quote today for 5995 USD for a full body PPF for 540xi. Any thoughts? Yes? No? Get another quote? Thanks!

There are too many variables to give you a good answer. What type of film? Which line? Where are you located? What type of install? How skilled is the installer? All of these factors drive price. For example, a bargain in the Bay Area could be astronomically high in Des Moines, IA. A custom install will be more expensive than a pre-cut/pattern job.

And you always get more than one quote. If you wanted to remodel your basement, would you get just one quote? No, no you wouldn't. One costs substantially more than the other, I get that but the concept is the same.

Anyone go full car PPF? I'm considering full car XPel Stealth on Frozen Pure Gray Metallic M8. Quote is $7700 which is high but the installer knows his stuff which is why I'm looking there. I have a second quote of 6300 but don't know the installer. Could do front/rockers/roof/pillars but if I'm going that far I'm figuring just do it all and don't worry about future maintenance.

I did a full PPF on my M340i.
I paid $8390 for full Xpel PPF. Window Tint (except windshield), and Ceramic Coating on wheels. Not cheap but I am very happy with it. The quality of work was much more important that the price. My car was the cheapest in the shop by far that week.

That is just as important as the price that so many people focus on and IMHO they go hand in hand!!!

Agreed. I've gone with a local shop that's known for their workmanship, but it was at a price (that I was willing to pay). I've gone with cheaper shops in the past and there was always some corner cut (no pun intended) 😂

To me, the quality of workmanship was more important than the price. Meaning a couple of hundred dollars difference, not thousands.

Thanks for the info. I since found out the guy that owns the shop is a friend of a friend. After talking to him they're going to do the full car in XPel Stealth and full tint job with W/S for $7K. I was also able to talk with the installer who has a good deal of experience on high end vehicles and I decided to jump on it. I agree with everyone that the installer is the important part of the outcome. Thanks guys!

Don’t get me wrong, the workmanship is number one and the price is number two, but they have to go and in hand. If you are in a major market and not limited to only one or two shops, you should be able to find the right installer.

Getting a quote on Stek 8mm on front fascia, hood, fenders and mirrors and rockers. Looks like Stek has gotten some good reviews on this forum. I trust the installer for the PPF but not completely comfortable their ability to handle the chips and color correction.
BMW dealer is insane on to small stone chips at 700.00 to 900.00 with out color color correction.
I suspect that the PPF should not be applied for a couple weeks after the repairs due to solvent trapping?
I don't have the latest tools but I have the skills. So I made have to tackle this myself. Thoughts appreciated.

Got the quote:
2020 BMW M4 CS
Stek
Front Bumper Coverage ($1,093.75 + $65.63 Sales Tax)
Front Bumper Lower Lip (PPF) ($200.00 + $12.00 Sales Tax)
Full Hood (PPF) ($1,032.50 + $61.95 Sales Tax)
Full Fender (PPF) (2 x $425.00 + $51.00 Sales Tax)
Side Mirror (PPF) (2 x $95.00 + $11.40 Sales Tax)
Rocker Panels (PPF) $472.50 + Sales Tax
Headlights (PPF) $150.00

I'm not in a market that provides me a lot of choice.
I'm not real sure of the chips and color correction work so I'm planning on handling that myself.
Thoughts appreciated.
