it's quite disgusting to see ignorant statements like this (and I don't own any Apple products) I think you need to check your history books and see exactly what Apple has done. The world around you would look very different without Apple.

This isn't about HUR RACE CARZ, GRIP, CARBON FIBERZZZ. Does Walmart have a racing pedigree?

BMW is really good at marketing their brand. Yes they make some amazing cars but their quality sucks compared to the Japanese automakers as well as some German luxury ones.
Do you realize the world's most advanced design studios (including BMW) engineer their products on Apple computers?

In the last couple of years BMW has been producing cars that are less focused on driving and more on technology and luxury. I understand this is a business and the objective is to maximize profitability (which they've been doing quite well because of Asia), but they're becoming more like Lexus and Mercedes, and losing their competitive advantage - driving dynamics. I know it might be some time from now, but I hope this strategy really bites them in the butt, when BMW completely loses its "cool" and "ultimate driving machine" factor, and no longer have the support from automotive journalists.

When I was younger I remember thinking to myself that I must drive a BMW, because it was relatively economical, a superior drivers car, and many of the features were different. Now, it's just on the same boat as everyone else. I know their strategy is to fill the Asian and Gen-Y market (who probably cares less about driving and more on technology), but it's very disappointing to witness the transition.
I agree with you! The recent models are similar to some other brands. They're losing their identity and that's bad. In my opinion this post Bangle period has not took the right direction.
I dont like the design of the new 2012 models and if cars sells with nice exterior they could be in trouble in the next year!

I agree with alot of the statements regarding Apple...a stupid company run by stupid people.....did you see their Q3 results??
units sold for Q3 ending June 25 2011:
20.34 million iPhones (142 percent unit growth)
9.25 million iPads (183 percent unit increase)
3.95 million Macs (14 percent unit increase)
revenue of $28.57 billion and record quarterly net profit of $7.31 billion.
revenue up 82 percent and profits up 125 percent

that's it?....profits up only 125%?.....shareholders must be pissed!

I had posted this some time earlier as well...
mind you that this is only the "Brand Performance" overall...
Unfortunately, if you take a lookl at the automotive categorization you will be disappointed:
Category: By Industry -> Automotive:
1- ADAC-AutomarxX Brand Ranking(Germany) http://www.rankingthebrands.com/The-...0&nav=industry
BMW 3rd following Mercedes and Audi!!! This is bad!!!
2- Automobile Brands Ranked by Digital IQ Score (US) http://www.rankingthebrands.com/The-...9&nav=industry
BMW 2nd, following Audi!!! This is even worse!!!
3- Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout study (US) http://www.rankingthebrands.com/The-...6&nav=industry
BMW 3rd, following Porche and Jaguar ( I thought BMW is known for performance! now Jaguar has to be 2nd!)
4- Businesscar of the Year (NL) http://www.rankingthebrands.com/The-...3&nav=industry
BMW 2nd, following Audi again!!!
5- Canadian Manufacturer Web Site Evaluation Study http://www.rankingthebrands.com/The-...9&nav=industry
BMW 24th and LAST in the list!!! Audi 5th !!! Mercedes 11th!!! what a record!!!
6- Germany Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study http://www.rankingthebrands.com/The-...4&nav=industry
BMW 8th, following Mercedes 2nd and Audi 6th
7- Top 10 Greenest Car Brands (EU- Green) http://www.rankingthebrands.com/The-...7&nav=industry
BMW is not even in the list!!! Audi 9th, Mercedes 10th.
8- Sales Satisfaction Index Ranking http://www.rankingthebrands.com/The-...1&nav=industry
BMW 8th, Mercedes 3rd, Audi 11th

So overall, I think we don't have a lot to say from the automotive perspective which we should!!!
BMW must wake up and see companies that are stealing their spot in their value propositions will be hanging around and here to stay! Audi is now a great example. How long before BMW realises this?

Maybe people don't see BMWs as "nice" as Audis/MBs because their build quality allows plenty of 20 year old Bimmers to still exist as daily drivers

I believe this news article was about the success of BMW as a brand but it's Apple that is mostly debated here. I guess it's just love it or hate it when the topic is Apple

Apple made multi-touch into a big deal. Apple made "Apps" into a big deal. Apple made CDs obsolete since mini-disk couldn't do it. Apple made a lot of stuff into a big deal.
Agreed. And, to the point about Apple products being overpriced -- he should do his homework there too. Compare an iPad $499 to other knock-offs out there. None of these pretend iPads are able to duplicate the price / performance of the real thing -- the original. That "overpriced" argument is about a decade old. Get with the times... read a little before posting such tripe.

According to this, BMW is a reputable brand as well as a symbol of status. This results in the attraction of everyone, especially the upper echelon of our society.
Wealthy people, at one point in time, had to struggle to attain their wealth. Regardless of the age factor, does one need to struggle to obtain a BMW in order to truly achieve the status that comes along with it?

BMW quality sucks? BMW is not a best marketing brand out there. They proved by numbers on the sheets (Facts) that they make some of the best performing vehicles in the world. BMW's reliability is best out of all german brands and is above world-average. Japanese cars have better reliability but there is no feel to it. BMW is a perfect balance of both. I don't see any problem in quality or reliability.

You are conflating performance with reliability. BMW's reliability is no better than average. And no, BMW does not have the 'best' reliability out of all the German cars, Porsche does. Japanese cars have even better reliability than Porsche.
