This. It's very clear that the majority of the posters on BMW forums and the BMW subreddit are people who are just there to complain and troll. I don't understand why people go post on a car forum for a car they don't like. Like, I think the G Wagon is the stupidest car being made, but never in a million years would I go to the G-Wagon forum and post shit. Just seems childish.

I guess the same could be said about how many people are going to take their M5 into corners on their daily commute where you feel like the weight of the vehicle is hindering how fast you get to your destination.

I've watched every single YT review on this car and my take away from all of them is that this car is:

Faster than the F90 in a straight line
Not as nimble in corners
More compliant suspension for daily use
Usable EV only range

All sounds good to me.

a forum solely based on fact and not opinion would make little to no sense... go ahead and remove all "vs" threads as well... because what's the point of any comparos if you like the car? Or this video at all if again you like the car already?

That's so true, a hybrid driven long distances or like a sports car will use way more gas and make way more Co2 emissions than a pure ICE... I had for a short while a 330e and this thing was emptying it's tank and consumed way more than any M cars I had on a road trip, the weight penalty on consumption cannot be overstated, the Co2 figures and tax break a pure hypocrisies. The only thing it was kind of good at was short distance commute in pure EV mode (even then you could argue it's also penalised by having to carry an ICE in the front bay)...

I am going to give it a year or two, maybe wait for the LCI, but I will definitely be getting one of these. I have a base 2018 M5 right now, and love it. But i think this one will blow it out of the water.

THIS!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I've never really considered an M5... Until NOW!
I've gotten up close and personal with the new 5 at my local Dealer. The size and proportions are way more to my liking. Coupled with the fact that it is clearly distinguishable from lesser models: 4, 3, etc. The fact that it's also substantially wider and even more distinguishable from a regular 5 is even more appealing to me as a potential buyer.
Now that I have my M8 to satisfy my Sports Car craving, I actually miss the size, space and comfort of the prior 7.
I'm strongly considering making a deposit for this M5 for my daily. But the only thing I need to confirm is Individual paint options. I'm not fully satisfied with the current colors. But overall I like it way more over the horrendous current Gen 7 which I would never own and the too plain for my tastes prior Gen 5.

On the one hand, honest criticism should be welcome and is valuable to the health of whatever is being discussed. On the other… we all know a guy/gal that complains about everything and how much of a drag it is to have dinner or spend time with this fuck. There’s a fine line I guess

(Actually, as an aside, has anyone wondered why Carwow’s Matt Watson hasn’t any content out on the driving of this? Peculiar)
Im not talking about roof only. Im talking about overall height/ground clearance.
G90 is sitting atleast 1.2” higher than F90.
The front tire is 285 mm , 20” with 40% ratio compare to 275 mm, 20” with 35% raio
The rear tire is 295 mm 21” with 35% ratio compare to 285 20” with 35% ratio.

I think performance is without a question in the ballpark of what a modern super saloon should be. I never slide the M5, I do however love 100 to 200 pulls and the relentless marching towards 150 it does with ease. So im happy with the performance. I want more before i make the jump but im happy.

My only gripe at this point is the exterior. Hope with some carbon bits, lowing kit (might kill the ride but dont care at all) and proper sized front wheels it will look the part. As it stands, it looks VERY pedestrian from the front fenders, down the door line and to the hips. I happen to like the rear and front; it's the side view that's not getting me there. I miss the F90 front fenders flowing into the deep cut under the handles badly.

Right now, my F90 is an absolute stunner in satin black with the carbon bits, it looks even better next to a new 5 or 7 series. I'm hoping to come around on this like i did when I moved from my e70 X5M to the F85.. I never came around on the F95 design.

The new 911 hybrid shows the way forward. The hybrid 911 weighs only 125lbs or so more than the non-hybrid version and is a big step up in performance over the prior GTS.

The plug-in hybrid makes a lot of sense in Europe where cars can't enter some city centers unless they run in EV only mode. This isn't an issue in America and lugging around the huge battery all the time doesn't make much sense.

I believe 911 GTS has a different system, you can't drive only on battery(Battery is too small).
That's explain the weight difference. the 911 MPG looks similar to the ICE only.

Which is a different approach from the M5

The 911 and the M5 are both hybrids. The main difference is the size of the battery (hence the weight difference). The new M5 took the wrong approach if you primarily care about performance. Yes, BMW engineers are great at masking the extra battery weight, but the M5 would have been a better performance car without the large battery.

Imagine if BMW offered two versions (similar to the Prius) of the M5; a regular hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. If they were almost identical except for the battery, I know which one I would choose. The less expensive, higher performance regular hybrid.
