i have comcast's 105/10 connection. Speeds are good, but the 250gb per month cap kind of sucks. I always have to monitor that towards the end of each month.

Right now, we have FiOS 50/35 (and I see speeds of 55/40 usually), and we're looking into the 135/35 package from them

this is weird.. anyone know why this could be happening?

on my mac, when I ran the test.. I got 23 download 15 upload.

I have verizon fios.

ON the SAME computer, i restarted and ran windows XP.

I got 17 download 13 upload.

Not really sure what the reason is... maybe windows firewall or something???

How are you connected to the internet on each of the computers? Wired connection or wireless? Are you using gigabit switches and the latest N-Class wireless access points? Do your computers have the latest hardware/adapters to make use of those current generation switches/AP's? Do you have any devices that are always connected to the internet (VOIP service, like Vonage, security system)?

I can certainly diagnose your problem, but without actually being there to see it, I need more information.

Why would I be jealous of the fact that the University of California system has high internet speeds? That's pretty standard for most major universities. That's not your personal connection.

I could drop by my campus and do the same thing.
