Parts are not usually the issue. They need to keep spare parts for a very long time, each market has different rules. This has to do with standardizing the design language at some point, but not for all models.

I don't know if it's because they had an abundance of the headlights available, but Ford did something interesting with the Gen 2 Raptor LCI. 2017 and 18 were pre LCI for the F150 line up. In 2019, the F150 received an LCI with Refreshed headlights that were significantly different than the ones in the 17s and 18s. The Headlights on the Raptor never received the headilight LCI. The entire run of the Gen 2 Raptor (2017 - 2021) they had the original headlights and the Raptor was the only F150 in the line up post LCI that had those lights... It was weird. Not sure why it happened. So weird things happen with LCIs on special models sometimes....

Thanks HB. I trust your judgement as I know you clearly have more direct contact and info. I was going by my experience of multiple decades in consumer product manufacturing changeovers. Different from what BMW does. They are more product/design driven than my company/industry was.

Same thing happened with the last Gen Camaro ZL1; the SS and V6 models got beat with the ugly stick, and the ZL1 kept the original (and way better looking) facia and headlight design. |

What are thoughts on this interior in an M5? That steering wheel with the vertical bar is just insanely odd to me. Also, nothing about this dash is luxurious or sporty. Screams basic Tesla layout to me. I'm so disappointed with everything BMW is doing these days.

The NK class front reminds me of the old Lincoln. Plus the panoscreen is already available on the Lincoln natuilus. So nothing new here. Can’t believe BMW engineers are now copying Ford/Lincoln

There is no chance in hell you can corner properly with that stupid shaped wheel. . . A flat bottom is one thing but how do you let it slide and roll through your hands? This is the interior of a car you are driven in (Uber/Lyft etc). It has no earthly place in an M car or even an M lite car. |

Just not to come off as negative Nancy. . . The exterior changes are pretty okay seeming. Im interested to see the new noses without camouflage. If they force the stupid space interior I will switch back to Audi though, flat out not even a question. This car and the new RS7 should be right in time for my current 5 year payoff.

All of you seem to lament its omission yet I regard it as utterly pointless. BMW’s doors are not challenging to close in the normal manner so what’s the allure of the electromechanical closure? My X5 had it and 99/100 times the door would shut perfectly despite low swing velocity, only very occasionally would the soft-close system be called upon. So, the singular benefit may be for a ‘silent shut’ if one had very particular needs for same where the car is in use???
